The University Technician in Information and communication technologies area has the necessary professional skills for his performance in the labor field, in the local, regional and national scope.

PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES

 

The professional skills are the skills and attitudes that allow the University Technician, develop activities in their professional area, adapt to new situations, as well as transfer, if necessary, their knowledge, skills, and attitudes to professional areas nearby.

 

Generic Competences:

Ability to analyze and synthesize, skills for basic research, capacities to plan and manage, safety and hygiene management, teamwork, effective communication, negotiation skills, leadership and service attitude.

 

Specific competences:

1. To implement software applications, using programming techniques and considering the requirements of the organization to make it more efficient.

1.1 To program software applications using programming logic and specific languages, to solve a certain problem.

1.2 To develop relational databases through an analysis of the information and according to the needs of the organization to manage the information.

1.3 To develop a website linked to a database with web design tools, a programming language and a database manager to publish, collect, and consume general information about the organization and users.

 

2. To implement and perform technical support to computer equipment, operating systems, and local networks, according to the technical needs of the organization, in order to ensure the optimal functioning of their computing resources.

2.1 To manage windows and unix-based operating systems according to the needs of the organization, using the system's own commands for the optimal operation of computer resources

2.2 Provide technical support to computer equipment and peripherals, according to the maintenance plan and policies of the organization to maintain the hardware in optimal operating conditions.

2.3 Implement a local network according to standards that guarantee its operation; to share information technology resources

 

3. To implement quality information systems, through advanced software development techniques in order to streamline the processes of organizations.

3.1 To plan computer projects according to the requirements of the organization, with software quality techniques so that the project is delivered in time, form, and quality.

3.2 To develop information systems through programming languages to automate processes of the organization.

 

4. To implement and manage database management systems according to the information requirements of the organization.

4.1 To implement database servers considering the needs of the organization for the storage and processing of information.

4.2 To manage the structure of the database according to the needs of the organization and the requirements of the information system in order to ensure its operation, security, and integrity.

The University Technician in Information and Communication Technologies in the Computer Science Areal will be able to work in:

  • Public and private companies whose purpose is not the development of software in functions of analysis, design, implementation, evaluation, or sale of Software.

  • In the public and social sectors, as well as independently in the different productive branches that demand services of Information Technologies preferably in electronic commerce and multimedia.
